The Experience
The CAGE/S™ credential is tough and demanding, but fun to study for. You will learn and grow with this phenomenal certification program which will keep you on the edge of your seat and even better yet, its all online. There are no boring theory lectures here.
During this certification course we will go into the philosophy of CAGE and the proven hard nosed methodologies used to identify, investigate and manage the nations most violent and organized criminal street gangs incarcerated in your local correctional facility.
The Why
The CAGE methodology is the most effective way to address this threat. Whether you're a Housing Officer, Classification Officer, or STG Officer; position yourself as a leader within Corrections and your facility as a Certified Corrections Anti-Gang Enforcement Specialist (CAGE/S).
Not all security threat inmates are gang members but all gang members are a security threat.
Obtaining your CAGE Specialist Certification is evidence of a specialized skill set in the study and effective application of correctional intelligence protocols and security threat inmates identification, housing and management.
Additionally, we will dive into the fundamentals of establishing a corrections gang unit and the methodologies used to operate an innovative, effective and efficient unit that is both aggressive and intelligence driven.
We're going to share with you the insights learned from some of the industry professionals that have established some of the most successful corrections gang units and teach you how to build an operate a team your Command will praise and the inmates will never see coming.
Law enforcement professionals for decades now have highlighted the success of gang enforcement initiatives by stating as the final measure of success and completion of an investigation or operation, “we put them away,” “we sent them to prison.”
Convicted gang members do not disappear into some black hole, or reside in cells with no outside stimuli or contact with the outside world, as the entertainment and movie industry have portrayed and the public has been led to believe.
To the contrary, they have access to methods of communication that are provided, created or altered to suit their criminal intentions. The notion that gang members stop being gang members while being incarcerated is simply inaccurate. In most cases, their level of gang involvement increases.
Every major street gang that is active in the United States received direction from persons incarcerated in our nation’s correctional facilities.
This includes violent street gangs with national affiliations such as the Latin Kings, Black Gangster Disciples, Vice Lords, and many others.
Many of these leaders have been in prison for decades in a segregation status and still able to mastermind and direct the operations of gang members both in our prisons and on the streets.
Today, millions of convicted felons, violent gang members, domestic terrorists and inmates dedicated to an ideology based on hate call our nation’s correctional facilities – home. If we want to put our finger on the pulse of today’s gang crime and activity, there is no better place to do so than from within the confines of our detention facilities, jails and prisons.
In the 2015 National Gang Threat Report, one third (1/3) of the jurisdictions report an increase in threats to law enforcement and "the attacks that were carried out against law enforcement and judicial officials over the past two years were violent and brazen" are you prepared? Is your team prepared? Is your agency prepared?
